This Golden Nugget will focus in on the scriptures in the Bible that actually speak about The Holy Bible itself ! After all, the Bible will always be it's best commentary! This will be a "companion" Golden Nugget to "INSIGHTFUL COMMENTS ABOUT THE BIBLE". I pray that both of these "Nuggets" will inspire you to grow in your knowledge and use of the "BOOK OF ALL BOOKS"! This scripture collection will be added to and updated as regularly as possible.
Here is a little "help" I want to share with you. Color coding your Bible is an effective way to keep these scriptures more thoroughly etched into your mind. I highlight scriptures relating to God's Word with a brown marking pencil. This is a memory device for me; it reminds me that just as we are nourished by food grown in the brown soil; so we are spritually nourished by the Word of God. Try this and I am sure you will find it fun; as well as inspiring to color code your Bible!
THE SCRIPTURES
"After these things the Word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, FEAR NOT, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." Genesis 15:1)
"And, behold, the Word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir."(Genesis 15:4)
" And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do."( Exodus 4:15)
COMMENT: The entire Bible is written by the Eternal who has put His Words into the mouths and minds of men!
"And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as He had spoken.For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him."(Genesis 21:1-2)
" Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die. He that FEARED THE WORD OF THE LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his cattle flee into the houses: And he that REGARDED NOT THE WORD OF THE LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field. And the Lord said unto Moses, Stretch forth thine hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man, and upon beast, and upon every herb of the field, throughout the land of Egypt. And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the Lord rained hail upon the land of Egypt. So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field." (Exodus 9:19-25)
" And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the Lord's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. And the children of Israel went away, AND DID AS THE LORD AS THE LORD HAD COMMANDED MOSES AND AARON, SO DID THEY ." (Exodus 12:26-28)
COMMENT: " AND DID AS THE LORD AS THE LORD HAD COMMANDED MOSES AND AARON, SO DID THEY". An entire nation was saved from destruction because they obeyed what God's Word had commanded them to do!
. "And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the Lord commanded him. And all the people answered together, and said, ALL THAT THE LORD HATH SPOKEN WE WILL DO. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the Lord. And the Lord said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord. "(Exodus 19:7-9)
COMMENT: " ALL THAT THE LORD HATH SPOKEN WE WILL DO". It just hit me that these words would be an excellent commitment one needs to make before they are baptized; willing to obey EVERY WORD that the Lord has spoken! I am going to side reference the "Count the Cost" Chapter in Luke 14 with these words! They were entering into their Covenant with God as a nation at this point, just as we here into a Covenant with the Lord at Baptism!
"Thus was all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation finished: and the children of Israel did according to all that the Lord commanded Moses, so did they." (Exodus 39:32)
"And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak. And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the Lord shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam." (Numbers 22:7-8)
COMMENT-Servants and ministers of God are responsible to speak the Word of The Lord from God's Word, not their own vain speculation and human reasoning
"And the angel of the Lord said unto Balaam, Go with the men: BUT ONLY THE WORD THAT I SPEAK UNTO THEE , THAT THOU SHALL SPEAK. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak." (Numbers 22:35)
"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. " (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
" And He humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that He might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live."(Deuteronomy 8:3)
" What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it." (Deuteronomy 12:32)
" And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:"(Deut.17:18-19)
COMMENT: These were instructions for the King Of Israel. We are a called to be "Kings and Priests" in God's Kingdom(Revelation 1:6). We, too, should read out of God's Word all the days of our life; that we might be prepared to rule in God's Kingdom!
" The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law."(Deuteronomy 29:29)
" And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the Feast of Tabernacles,When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which He shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing .Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they learn, and fear the Lord your God, and observe to do all the words of this law: And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it." (Deuteronomy 31:10-13)
COMMENT:-Notice that the Feast of Tabernacles was to be a time of great instruction for even the children. This was one of the great purposes God ordained for His people to come together at the Feast Days!
" This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."(Joshua 1:8)
"And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of the Lord your God." (Joshua 3:9)
"And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law. THERE WAS NOT A WORD of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them."(Joshua 8:34-35)
" And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. AND THE WORD OF THE LORD WAS PRECIOUS IN THOSE DAYS there was no open vision." (1 Samuel 3:1)
" If ye will fear the Lord, and serve him, and OBEY HIS VOICE, and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the Lord your God:15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers." ( 1 Samuel 12:14-15)
"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king." (1 Samuel 15:23).
"And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the BOOK OF THE LAW." (Nehemiah 8:3)
"Neither have I gone back from the Commandment of His lips; I have esteemed the Words of His mouth more than my necessary food." (Job 23:12)
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.But his delight is in the Law of the Lord; and in his law doth he MEDITATE day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. (Psalms 1:1-6)
In them time of David when this was written; only the first 5 Books of the Bible — known as "The Law" — were available for Israel to be read and studied. If the blessings of studying God's Word was so blessed then ; how much MORE SO now that we have all 66 books of the Bible!
"The Words of the Lord are pure Words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. " (Psalms 12:6-7)
COMMENT: This actually is a FULFILLED PROPHECY! God has miraculously preserved His Words in the Bible we have today — since the time of Moses!
"As for God, His way is perfect: the Word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him." (Psalms 18:30)
"For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." (Psalms 33:4-6)
" By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast."
(Psalms 33:6-9)
"The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide." (Psalms37:31)
"Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the BOOK it is written of Me,I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within My heart." (Psalms 40:7-8)
COMMENT: A greater than David is here! He is speaking prohetically of the Messiah. It is intesting here that the English world " Bible" simply means "Book" and here in Psalms it is referred to as "book". Notice this prophecy was fullfilled of Christ in the following verse in Luke 24:44- " And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me."
" In God I will praise His Word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me." (Psalm 56:4)
" The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes." (Psalms 119:8)
" Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to Thy Word." (Psalms 119:9)
"Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me Thy statutes." (Psalms 119:12)
"Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." (Psalms 119:11)
"I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches." (Psalms 119:14)
" I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways." (Psalms 119:15)
" I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy Word." ( Psalms 119:16)
" Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law." (Psalms 119:18)
" So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word."( Psalms 119:42)
"Thou art my portion, O Lord: I have said that I would keep thy words." (Psalms 119:57)
" They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I HAVE HOPED IN THY WORD." (Psalms 119:74)
"Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my COMFORT, ACCORDING TO THY WORD unto thy servant." (Psalms 119:76
" My soul fainteth for thy salvation: but I HOPE IN THY WORD ."(Psalms 119:81)
" For ever, O Lord, thy Word is settled in heaven." (Psalms 119:89)

"Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in Thy Word." (Psalms 119:114)
"Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them." (Psalms 119:129)
"Establish my footsteps in Your Word And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me." (Psalms 119:133-NAS)
"My eyes anticipate the night watches, That I may meditate on Your Word" (Psalms 119:148- NAS)
"Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it." (Psalms 119:140
" I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil." (Psalms 119:162)
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalms 119:195)
"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." (Isaiah 8:20)
" Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:" (Isaiah 28:9-10
" Seek ye out of the BOOK of the Lord, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for My mouth it hath commanded, and His spirit it hath gathered them." (Isaiah 34:16)
COMMENT: Notice here it is called the " BOOK OF THE LORD".
"The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the Word of our God shall stand for ever." (Isaiah 40:8)
" So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."(Isaiah 55:11)
" Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?" (Jeremiah 23:29)
+Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come. But I will shew thee that which is noted in the SCRIPTURE OF TRUTH : and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince." (Daniel 10:21-22)
"But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."(Matthew 4:4)
" Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away." ( Matthew 24:35)
" But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it." (Luke 11:28)

COMMENT: Notice they gave the Philippian jailer what was SOLID, SCRIPTURE, to establish his faith upon!
"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few." (Act 17:11-12)
" And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of His grace, which is able to BUILD YOU UP , and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified."(Acts 20:32)
" And I said, Who art thou, Lord? COMMENT: Paul's epistles are a witness and record of what he was taught by Jesus Christ." (Galatians 1:11-12)
"Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the HOLY SCRIPTURES,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;" (Romans 1:1-3)
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." (Romans 1:16)
"What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God." (Romans 3:1-2)
" He (Abraham) staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God And being fully persuaded that, what He had promised, He was able also to perform. "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (Hebrew 11:3)
"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby:If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious." ( 1 Peter 2:2-3)
" Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."(2 Peter 1:20-21)
"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.And if any man shall take
away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."(Revelation 22:18-19)
COMMENT: Notice here that Revelation is referred to as a "book". It is interesing that the English word for "Bible" simply means "Book"; yet the Greek word for Bible is "biblia" which actually means "books"! All the "books" of the Bible comprise "THE BOOK"!
